This Act set out conditions for the employment of women in “Workrooms and Factories”. Night work, between the hours of 6 pm and 9 am, was forbidden, and no women were to work more than eight hours a day. Holidays were also set, including Saturday afternoons, Sundays, and public holidays, without loss of wages. Every workroom was required to be properly ventilated and could be inspected by an authorised person at any time during working hours.
