This council was established to advise the Minister of Labour on matters concerning the employment of women. Its membership included representatives of major employment-related groups as well as seven women appointed by the minister. Priority issues included reconciling paid work and family responsibilities, maternity and parental leave, child care, part-time and casual work, equal pay and employment opportunities, and career and vocational education.
