This Act enabled women between the ages of 25 and 60 to have their names placed on the jury list if they so desired. With growing recognition of the importance of having a representative group of citizens available for selection as jurors, the Act was amended in 1963 to allow for the names of all women to be included on the list, with absolute rights of withdrawal. Later changes placed the same requirements on both women and men, between the ages of 20 and 65, and resident within a specific radius from a court, to attend if summoned.
